thats funny you mentioned to have my buddy tow me in. We actually tried that. We tied our kayaks together and I actually put my pole between my legs and we both tried to paddle in. The shark was not havin it. When he ran our kayaks would slam together and we could just not make any progress. When the shark was headed away from shore and my buddy was paddling in (kayaks attached) my drag just would keep going. I almost ran out of line trying that (because we were headed in and he was headed out the only give was the drag.) Anyway I launched in the Santa Barbara Area (not at any beach or harbor just a remote location.) If you are ever in the area send me an email @ sales@fireflyimports.com and we could try it out.

: test: Great story. Where did you guys launch from? Also, if that shark was that big it sounds like it was a wise move to cut it off even though it might have been some kind of record. Maybe next time have your buddy tow you to shore to finish the fight or get your hands on a bang stick. I sure would think twice about using a flying gaff and just trying to hold on but what about a flying gaff tied off to a barrel like in jaws (ha ha). What does Rhino say???
