: Jason;

: Yah, perch’n is fun and a great way to break in a new fisherman. An outstanding natural bait at your feet are the sand crabs (mole crabs). They are so abundant! With your hands, reach into the sand four inches and turn the sand over. Walla lots of bait. The perch and corbina flip for them. If the perch are around, they will bite. Use a 1/4 ounce sliding sinker. They tend to range from 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches in length.

Ya, crabs are good bait. So are the muscle. I usually try to stick with the plastic grubs. If I don't get hit for a while on the grubs, I usually put on a smaller hook and dig for a crab. I like the muscle because it can survive the casts better than the crab. With the surf kinda big for ideal perch/corbina conditions lately, I've had to cast a little further. Those grubs seem to stay on the hook better for long casts than does the bait.
