I ended up taking a group of four friends to fish garappata on Sunday. There was no wind (rare) until about 11 am so we were able to paddle out to the BIG rocks. We fished this area and then wound our way through the kelp until the breeze and fatigue kicked us off the water, back up the cliffs and into the town of Big Sur for a drink at the local pub. All of us caught and released between 35 and 50 rockfish. I hooked what felt like a huge halibut, which prompty dragged me into the kelp taking my megabait jig with it. Big Sur Wildstyle in full effect.
