They say that sit in yaks keeps you warmer when you're in the colder zone, I guess depending on the weather in Tennessee you can decide for yourself.
Here in So. Cal many are sea kayakers, with the warm weather and the occasional splash from surf launching, most of us go with sit on tops, also for easier rigging for fishing and you can throw a bait tank or a bucket, or crate in the wells that only sit of tops can provide.
just my 2 cents.

: I'm going to buy a kayak for river fishing in middle Tennessee. A few rapids but white water is nonexistent. I'm 5'10" and weigh 220. I've done alot of paddling but have never used a kayak. What should I look for in boat? Should it be sit in or sit on top?
