When fishing live bait I use a 4/0 or 5/0 circle hook with 15 feet of 300lb. soft steel (mono) leader. I know a lot of guys who use shorter leaders that are only 80 to 150lb. but I've been broken off using lighter stuff and it's not gonna happen again. I also use a leader on my rapalas and yozuris because I've hooked them in the mouth and the pectral fin using lures. I'd also go lighter on the line (20-30)or make sure not to reel yourself to the fish to fast. You don't want it close to your boat til it's tired.

That's my 2 cents,

Vic

Hi everyone,
: I need some help on what the best way is to get threshers (i.e. leaders, hooks, and rigging) I have a whole case full of rapalas and just need to know what to tie them to. I usually use 50lb test but was wondering what size leader to use, or if i should use wire or what. Thanks and all help appriciated.
