Fishfinder...portable or no-portable...?

I am on the market to buy a fishfinder. What do you experts recomend for a scupper pro OK? I heard a lot of good things about the Hummibird DX200. I would like to know the pros and cons of the portable and non portable models...suggestions anyone? I am also open to other makes and models. If you know a good one let me know. Looking at the Price range from $100 - $300.
