Marine goop has worked for many kayakers, bubbles formed around the edges of mine all 5 times that I have mounted my transducers, but never hindered the operation of the finder. Make sure you follow the advice of the readers when mounting the transducer. Have you read Ted's article on installing a fish finder? Good Luck!

: : I just bought a fish finder. It's being installed this week. It's a Humminbird 200DX. It has a through-hull transducer. I bought it used but I'm pretty sure it's about $200 new. The humminbirds are used by a lot of Kayak fisherman as well as other brands. I know some guys who post to this board who have the same model as I have and they are happy with it. They are also very experienced kayak fisherman. Run a search for FISH FINDERS on any major search engine and do some research. They list specs etc. Don't spend too much. I've been told that anything around the $150 range should be all you'll ever need. Good Luck. I just tried Marine Goop to mount one and during the curing process, it formed bubbles, making it not a good choice for mounting.
