Well I took my son out fishing last night. :-) We launched at around 5:00 PM from baby beach. As we were putting in I saw another kayaker launching with one rod, rigged up with the Quietman Endorsed T-shark killer rapala. Not sure how he faired, but the wind didn't back down much like it typically does in the evenings.

Anyway, I took Eagle Eye's advice and set up a nice pad / seat in the front hatch (jury is still out on that practice). I brought two light poles. One was his lucky fresh water pole that has landed him a pair of 5 # trout and a 14# channel cat along with an assortment of of smaller trout, Largemouth bass and bluegill all curtousy of Lake Mission viejo. The other was my trusty bay rod. Both were rigged up with small swim baits and grubs throughout the evening. I spent most of the time helping him fish. It looked like he was getting a few short bites, but it is a little tough for a 5 year only with a tazmanian devil rod to set a hook. None the less, he had a blast trying and insisted on using his rod and casting by himself. All in all, we didn't catch any fish, but we sure had a nice little floating picnic thanks to care package Mom packed for us. Good times.

Kevin

PS: I also tried out my new Ikea bag drift chute. Someone posted something about using an Ikea bag on one of the sites. I tell you, it works good and is cheap. I will try to post a picture of it later.
