Well I was anxious to get back out to the spot were bagged a nice legal WSB over memorial day weekend. I wasn't able to fish last weekend due to my son's little league schedule. Games on satuday, sunday and monday. None the less, I was up early and launched at 6:00 AM. Unfortunately the wind was up early as well. Going out, I heard the Captain of the Helena telling the anglers on board that the fishing was tough the day before. The wind made it rough getting out to the point. Bait was easy to find in close to the kelp. Only took two drops of the sabike to fill my tank with a mix of sardines and smelt. That was the only easy part of the trip outside. Lots of wind and boats buzzing by made for no fish. Frustrated, I went back to the harbor and worked the bait barge for about 11 or 12 short WSB and one short Baricuda (caught on the troll on the way back to baby beach.) All were caught with a 3" green/yellow swimbait with a 1/4 ounce brown and red head and 6# line. The little WSBs loved this so much that I even caught one with my rod in my lap, the tip between my toes and the swim bait a foot in the water as I paddled up wind to start another drift.

I am thinking about heading out of san onfre next time to hit the kelp/reef there. Has any one fished there? I know the domes can get a good mix of Yellowtail, barricuda and sand bass.
