: I just bought a kayak, a Pro Explorer, and I would like to start kayak fishing in the San Diego area. I'm lost when it comes to salt water fishing so any advise is greatly appreciated. What do you old salts recommend for decent starter fishing equipment? (rod, reel, lures etc.). Are there any bargains at Big 5 or Sports Challet that I should check out? I'm planning on starting in Mission Bay till I get some experience and juevos to try the kelp beds. Thanks for your help.

If it dosent rain on sat. come down to Chula Vista Bay Side park there will be about 15 or more kayaks there also it is a great place to start fishing. Get a good 6lb outfit high end Shimone calcutta 250 with a good 7ft rod 4-12lb or similer or start with a spinning setup.Use 1/4oz leadheads with small 3in.grubs or swimbaits.Colors Clear silver or red flake ,rainbow trout, brown orange. My advice is come on down and see what kind of rigs we are using. Jack
