Sunday, 5Am loaded 4 kayaks, Al, Greg, Corey, and gear in my truck and headed south to try yet another spot south of the border. After a couple stops we arrived at Salsipuedes around 7:30AM. Beautiful campground, sites in the olive grove, green hillside with a small herd of wandering sheep and chickens here and there. There is a very steep 50 yd cut down to the water. We doubled up bringing the kayaks down. I made my last trip down just in time to see Greg sliding down the steep, smooth rock beach into the surf. (Chuck style). There were occasional 3 foot sets breaking in tight with nice intervals. "Time to go" Al and I made it out without going through or over anything. Paddling out it was just a breeze and warming up, that didn't last.

We ended up 2 miles offshore, working reefs 170-200 feet. Al (the fish finder) said the meter was lit up. The first drift looked very promising with short Lings and Rockfish pulled up. Al got a Boccacio,Lings, Reds, a Copper and Whitefish. I got a couple Reds. Corey caught and released a 1/2 dozen short Lings and Greg got the jackpot winning Lingcod and some Rockfish on the 6" Scampi. After that 1st drift conditions deteriorated pretty quickly as the wind blew harder and harder. Around noon I couldn't keep 12oz on the bottom with the drift shoot out and we had all had windwaves in our laps.

Heading in Corey got the highest marks for his landing. Surfing in straight he put the nose of his FnD on the beach. I fell off the back of my wave and paddled in behind it. Once again no one dumped (knock on plastic). Heading home we saw some other spots to investigate on future trips, south of Rosarito. Stopped at a roadside stand for some great tacos before heading across the border and back home around 7PM. Batteries died in my camera taking the pictures with them, so I took this one from Jas. The taco count proved to be more impressive than the fish count but it was another great adventure.
