: Davey jones,

: The temperature outlet on the back of your Piranha 5 is a sealed connector (as are the power and transducer connectors). Water cannot pass through the connector itself. This connector panel is sealed to the rear housing of the unit by the gray gasket that you can see around the connectors on the back of the unit. This gasket also provides an 'interference fit' so that the connectors will remain plugged in. This connector is 'sandwiched' between the rear housing and the connector panel.

: I hope that this alleviates any concerns about the temp outlet being sealed. By the way, the Piranha 5 comes with a built in temp probe in the transducer. The temp outlet connector is there is case someone mounts the transducer inside the hull and wants to buy and install another temp probe that would be mounted in the water - otherwise you will be reading the temperature of your hull.

: If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact me via e-mail at the address below. It sometimes takes me a few days to answer or to find the answer - depending on my current workload.

RE:Thanks for the toll free responce, but Greg why not use a plug for that port? Wont saltwater get into the pin connectins and corrode the connection? BTW, I really was amazed at the performance of this unit with the double cone when i tied up to a bouy and just watched the traffic under my yak, really make you think of the food chain when you see the bait fish following the predator fish, only to be eaten when night time cycle starts. These big fish have it made, kind of like the crazy ivan tv dinner.TL
