Launched with Rhyno in the am. After dealing with equipment(bait tank, sonar, levelwind) malfunctions for a while, I decided to do some fishing. Bait seemed to be just about everywhere. Soaked a couple of smelt for 2 good runs before getting cut off...most likely some toothy critters. Rhyno nailed sand bass all am. I threw the Fish Traps out and joined the fun. Good bass bite with one even pushing 6+lbs.
Besides the fatty sandy, the high point of the day was seeing a whale pup inside the kelp. I'd guess in about 20 ft of water. I don't know about Rhyno, but I was sure looking around for momma. That makes about 5 I've seen in the kelp this year. Pretty cool! Just think, some people pay big bucks to go whale watching. Yakers go for free.
