: I need some input as to if I will be able to handle/control the Extreme with my 5' 8, 165lbs frame. Any opinions? Do you think Pro Explorer is a better fit? Thanks.

I think once on the water, you might be ok. I have spoken to a couple people around your size that did say the boat seemed a little bit hard to control for them in the water. A nice thing is that it does have adjustable foot rests. Out of the water, it might get a little cumbersome. This is something you should consider in regards to loading, unloading and transporting your yak. I know people who can't put it up on their racks without help from someone else. Taking into consideration that some people are stronger than others....some have longer legs....shorter torso, etc;  I would also consider the Pro Explorer. It's lighter, shorter and plenty stable. Offhand, I'm not sure what the exact weight of the Pro Explorer is but I'd guess it's somewhere between 15-20lbs lighter than the extreme. They're entirely different boats but one might be more practical for you than the other. I have seen a couple of cool trailers people have ordered to haul the extreme. To me, the extreme is a big boy boat with some touring style attributes.
