confused-fish finder transducer

I want to install a humminbird fish finder in my kayak, I have read alot about installing the finder and it all seems relatively easy. I do have a question about the transducer that I have not been able to find. The humminbird comes with a transom mount transducer. Will this work if mounted to go thru the hull? What do I need to do, and how easy is it, to convert to a thru the hull if this is necessary? Thanks.
