Hey Mike,
If it's the same Deer Creek I'm thinking about, (a couple of miles south of Point Magu) you just go down the cement staircase just north of deer creek road. There are usually several hundred yards of very fishy kelp right beyond the surf. The last time I went during the summer the surf was very angry. I'd have alternate plans if your going now. Let me know when you go and maybe I'll join you.
