I know this is not the answer that your looking for, but the best kayak for getting through the surf is what ever kayak you’re the most skilled at paddling.
There are many kayakers who just aren’t happy with any thing but a very short, wide, and DRY kayak to fish from. These kayaks ride up and over the swells.
I like a long, narrow and fast kayak, but if you don’t time the window just right (which I rearly do), than it punches through the surf and is very WET. Personally I don’t mind getting wet. I mean that’s kind of why I’m in the ocean, in a kayak, in the surf, in the first place.
