I think you've seen how we like to attach those. We get the larger diver retractors to secure the stringer to somewhere on the kayak. Since I have a tankwell my kayaks, logically I connect it to one of the straps on my tankwell. That retractor has I think a 3ft chord w/ 80lb strength. I use a smaller one to connect to my person for securing my VHF radio.
