I have a Honda Accord. I use Yakima racks with gunwhale brackets. I prefer having my kayak faced upside down when I'm driving. After some research I opted for the brackets. I'm going eventually get some rollers for the rear rack for easier loading.
Btw, the Yakima rack generator (tells you what rack system for what car) recommended 48" bars for my car. I measured 2 of my kayaks widths, combined them and decided I needed larger bars. I went with 60" bars. They extend out almost as wide as my sideview mirrors do. They can get in the way but it's been worth it.
