: etc; Before recommending any boats, I would like to know some more information about the paddler. Reviews are good for research but they don't always qualify the variables like the ones I mentioned above. For Ex. Ocean Kayak's Scrambler is great boat but it's not for my size nor application. Though for some, it's the ideal boat.jas***************I'm 6'2" about 200# and I do my fishing and diving in waters that can get rough and also some surf entries and exits. One of my concerns is good hatches that won't let the boat flood too bad if capsized. Thanks,Sam

Sam,

I believe your size is fine for all of the kayaks you mentioned. The most secure hatch I have is on my Scupper Pro TW. It's not as large as Malibu's but from my experience, it's the most impervious to splash, leaks, etc; As far as those 2 kayaks go, they are very much different from one another. I consider the eXtreme to be like a touring Cobra Fish N' Dive. Roomy, a great deck lay out and some touring style attributes. The Scupper is more narrow and less stable though from my experience, easier to paddle through the rough stuff and a long proven favorite of many fitting your same dimenions. There are too many differences and attributes to mention. Try all 4 of them out and decide for yourself.
