Fishing is one of many countries favorite past times. Quotas, quotas, quotas....What the heck does a harvest quota have to do with Grandpa taking his grandson to catch a couple of fish? If quotas are reached early, cut or limit the commercial fishery first, grandpa last. I don't think I've ever seen rockfish at my local markets. Once in a while you'll see something they call red snapper which it usually isn't. Where does most of the commercially harvested rockfish go? My point is this, at least locally, I don't think people will miss rockfish in our local markets if the commerical harvest quota is reduced. The fishery should be for the people of the states first and foremost, commerical 2nd. The recreational angler continues to pay a price for harvest quotas being met early. Well at least not this time.
