Hello

Looking out for my first kayak, mostly for flyfishing on the mountain lakes here in the French Alps but with a bit of sea stuff thrown in during the holidays. We can get the Scrambler, XT, Scupper range over here new no problem, but I've found a gorge-running outfitter that sells dozens of something very similar, a DAG Lagoon 1, (about 12 feet long) second hand after one season for about half price. It doesn't have any hatches though. My first question is, for a fishing kayak, does this matter? I can't imagine the hatches being accessible while you're at sea, or even easily in a lake. I'm not thinking of doing any overnight camping by the way...OK, second question. A couple of years ago I spent three days sit-on-top kayaking near Phuket in Thailand. Great holiday, but I found the paddling awkward, there doesn't seem to be a good 'grip' for your body/legs on the kayak hull. Was that my technique,or have SOT's improved since then, or are there accessories avalable to firm-up the paddling position?

Thanks, Marc
