not too familiar with message boards but anyway, if this is repetitive its because I tried to post it before but cannot find it. Anyway its funny you mentioned having my buddy tow me in. We actually tried that with little success. We tied our kayaks together as he tried to paddle. in fact I even put the pole under my legs and tried to help. Problem was when the shark decided to run out away from shore the only thing that gave was my drag. He was headed out, we were headed in and the drag just kept going. When he decided to run hard our kayaks would slam together. Anyway we launched in the Santa Barbara area from a remote location (not a beach or harbor.) : Great story. Where did you guys launch from? Also, if that shark was that big it sounds like it was a wise move to cut it off even though it might have been some kind of record. Maybe next time have your buddy tow you to shore to finish the fight or get your hands on a bang stick. I sure would think twice about using a flying gaff and just trying to hold on but what about a flying gaff tied off to a barrel like in jaws (ha ha). What does Rhino say???
