Cool site. I never hear of anyone getting chomped in Texas. I'm sure it's happened, especially w/ that many Hammerheads around. How agressive are the Hammerheads out there? Are people running for cover when they hear of one or two being spotted. I know my kids wouldn't be swimming there if a couple were spotted. I know I'd fear them. Though I am still most affraid of the Bull sharks in Florida (and other areas).

A few yakers I know have seen a Great White Shark while out on the water. I just met a couple in San Simeon that said they witnessed a GW attack a seal in Gaviota. They were in a small paddle raft out around the outer kelp. They witnessed what they though was the weirdest seal feeding behavior they'd ever seen. The seal would bob up and down at different areas. After 3 times of that, the shark came up a little w/ the seal gripped in it's jaws.

The shark had attacked the seal in between them and the shoreline. He said it looked like an 18 footer. I asked him what he did next. They waited a bit, then they paddled as calmly w/ a genle fluid-like paddle. Basically they paddled as slow as possible to not resemble a thrashing movement.

Always nice to hear about these stories when you're about to launch at a new location by yourself. Especially Central-Northern California.
