: hi, just bought a scupper pro tw and want to fit it out w/ either a scotty or ram (preferably) rod holder. it seems like this yak isn't in favor on the east coast, so i was wondering if you left coasters could help me out. can a ram ball be attached on the compass base? also, i've seen scottys attached on the thin parts on the sides of the cockpit on this website. thanks

My Scotty is on the Compass base. Frequently the rod butt interferes with my legs (or vice-versa)because they stick out the bottom side. Flush mount will definitely not work because of the rod butt problem so get a pedestal mount. I'm not sure if I would do it the same again. I like the look of the hook1 but question its ability to prevent losing rods. It looks dicey. Others who use them might respond to answer the question about pole security.
