I'm in Hobart Davey and can tell you that the Hobie Outback is a tremendous kayak. I've mainly used it in the Derwent Estuary and also upstream Derwent and Lake Meadowbank. I've had it a couple of months and love it. Comfortable, dry, well made and equipped and capable of covering great distances easily. I'm a fat bastard and it carries me with no problems. Last weekend I did an easy 12km or so cruise in the Derwent in a bit over 3 hours. There was a fair bit of wind and chop but it was dead easy even for someone as unfit as me.
The really great thing about the Outback is that it's complete - you don't have to screw things onto it unless you want a fishfinder ( they're in the water ). I just pop a lure on and stuff the rod in the rhs front holder and troll by using the pedals. It is just so easy to maintain a trolling pace. So you get to fish, exercise, relax and sightsee all in one device that fits on your car roof. Worth every cent.
