It has a lot of juice, but is nice and compact. Find a nice container to fit it in, like a rubbermaid food storage. I put a hole right next to where the lid latches down(for the battery gauge). I think the unit is about $24.
Where are you planning to put the battery while you're using it? On my Scupper, I put it inside the hull, positioned under my seat. I use to pieces of foam glued to the bottom of my yak to stabilize the battery. I can still pull the battery out for charging & it's centered for even weight dispertion.
At the time, I couldn't find a recharger at the Radio Shack store. So I purchased one through Cabela's online store.
Get the right "connectors" for the battery. The kind that slides on the battery connections. Alligator clips work, but could shake lose if you bumped or spilled.
