: Hi allYou guys know so much about yakfishin, how about commercial fishin? I'm going out this weekend to dispose of my Mom's ashes and I don't want them picked up in a commercial fisherman's net later on. Mom wanted the urn sealed and dropped in the ocean. Before anyone gives me the legalities of this, I know It's not legal. Legally the ashes are supposed to be scattered. I don't care so much about what is legal as I do my Mom's wishes. Mom even spoke of dropping her cremains off my kayak but I'm not sure how deep I need to go to avoid any nets.My question is, how deep do commercial fisherman go with their nets or whatever they're using? There are canyons off shore from me that are up to 700 feet deep, within easy reach of my yak or there are shipping lanes within power boat reach (which we have available) that go to 1700 feet deep. Also, we are puttting her down in a ceramic urn because I thought this was the best choice for sea life to quickly grow over it, as opposed to glass or plastic.I would also appreciate any info on what is the longest lasting (under saltwater) sealant for the urn.I plan on using a sinker release on a rod and reel to gently rest the urn on the bottom. Does anyone have a better sugggestion on how to lower ceramic to these depths? I don't want it to break on the bottom.Mom liked to fish some, but mostly she would endure anything to be with her family.I have a picture hanging on my wall of a 25 pound king salmon I caught back around '95, I took her out for Mother's day on a charter and landed the jackpot fish.Thanx MomI'll miss you and love you forever.MACD

Just do your best and I’m sure your mother will be happy with what ever you come up with.
