Ted offers an interesting and sometimes critical perspective into the company. Since I know Ted personally, I have an idea where he's coming from. Ted knows I'm a HUGE Ocean Kayak fan, but it still doesn't diminish his hard-line corporate assessments. Most of us talk about kayaks and kayak fishing products in regards to hands-on application.
Ted gives hands-on reports but he also analyzes various stock and/or financial reports. It looks like he's correlated some of the financial report stats with development and release dates. IMHO, a kayak shouldn't be put on the market til it's ready. OK delayed the release to make the kayak "right". They also have a huge distribution operation so adjustments and modifications to the yak's design aren't the only "time consuming" factors to consider. Though delays were inevitable and it's possible there were more to them than design and distribution variables.
That stuff bores me like it does most people. If I was more interested in the stock market, I would find it an interesting read. But I don't think it would deter me from purchasing an OK. The company's products and history speak for themselves.

These are discussion boards first and foremost. I do moderate and edit when I have to, but for the most part I try to maintain a forum for open discussion. Ted's discussion offers an insight into Ocean Kayak as a corporation (part of a Johnson), not so much as a kayak manufacturer. He's on the water and he keeps up with the market reports.

I wouldn't allow repeated criticizing of a manufacturer if I suspected there was a hidden agenda. I know Ted has none. Keep in mind, I'm a HUGE Ocean Kayak fan and have been since I learned to kayak fish on a Malibu II way back when. I will always have their boats in my arsenal.

I believe Ted was speculating and offering an insight to the delays from a different perspective than a dealer or someone from within the company might offer. It would have been neat to see someone challenge his statements rather than to speculate on his motive.

The Prowler has arrived!  Corporate financial stats are more or less irrelevant now in regards to potential Prowler delays.
