Aloha Gabe,
When I'm hooked up, I usually shove my paddle blade under my bungie tree on my bow. It holds my paddle secure as I fight the fish or if I need to do anything else. The cool thing is when you grab your paddle with your right hand, it's already in position to stroke left.
