: Hey everyone I am still fairly new to kayak fishing and have yet to land a large fish (anything over 5 lbs.)what I was wondering was how soon after you make a big catch such as a yellowtail or WSB do you clean it? How do most of you keep them after you catch them I.E. on a stringer in the water,in a hatch with some ice. Do any of you bleed them out while on the water and clean them to keep them more fresh? Thanks,Jeff

I have an insulated fish bag that I take if I am going to be on the water for more than 5 hours with hot weather, or like this weekend when I fish a Tourney. I use the blue ice sheets or similar products, and a little fresh ice from my beverage cooler. Gut and gill the fish on the water only if you can contain the blood in the fish bag, and watch out for sharks at this time. I gut/gill on the water when fishing for personal consumption and fun. I wont gut and gill durring tourney time for obvious reasons. TL Rhino
