Heck yeah!...That sounds like a candidate for a thru-hull submersible pump, that would look tight!
I've never done this, but here's my .02

Out-take, use some pvc to go from the scupper hole up through the tank to the level that you desire, the water will hit that level and drop down, that is a common method you see in aquariums for under-gravel filters.

In-take, use a thru-hull submersible pump through the tank to the other scupper hole. Attach a one-way valve that quietman identified from West Marine (expensive $14.99) or one from a sprinkler system at Home Depot ($3.99) so you only have to prime once and your tank won't get siphoned out if you shut it off intermittently.

Drawback? having the pump inside may deter the swimming pattern of smaller baits. I'd do it anyhow, just to see. It may not make a difference if you only fish 4-5 hours, or only have a couple dozen of small anchovies.

That sure would look clean though! No pump or hoses outside. Don't forget to put a draiv valve.

Good Luck!

Greg

: I bought a cooler for my bait tank. Thanks to cucamonga keith, I was able to get an idea of how I want my tank.Well the cooler fits perfectly, just behind the seat of my FnD. It fits too perfectly. My scupper holes are under the cooler. My question is, can I run my intake and out-take hoses from the bottom of the cooler.Any help would be appreciatedThank yougabe
