Brian,
I'm renting a Prowler from Go's this weekend, any advice? It's either a Scupper or the Prowler. I have paddled the Scupper before so I do have some thing to campare it to.

: hmmm,...I don't know where to start. the Ocean Kayak Prowler,...well I rigged one and took one for a test drive. hmmm,...(personal opinion)Ocean Kayak Prowler is a glorified Manta.Hull design is 90% identical to the Manta, with some small differences. a) it's about 13 - 18#s lighter (whew!)b) the TW is actually well thought out,...c) no wings (makes it looks sleaker) hehehed) cockpit designed for tackle/gear d1) lots of room for bigger peoplee) definately faster than the Scupperf) a hair better stability.some things I was not impressed at,...1) deep V bow, tends to pearl in surf zones 1a) no wings (anti pearl)2) although bow is lower it still catches wind3) hatch drain groove still not low enough to drain waterI will say it is a fast hull, doesn't broach nearly as much as the Manta. It is easier to paddle. I think they should have another model with 2 hatches along with a TW.My test grounds, windward Oahu, Outside the Mokulua's, through two surf zones. Weather: overcast, 15 - 25 mph NNE occasional gusts to 30. Surf 6' - 8'(heights measured by the front of waves)No marine warnings in effect for the island of Oahu. With all the hype, I was not too impressed by the Prowler, I like my Scuppers better! These are just my observations and opinions. I'm sure I'm gonna get some flak with this review but hey, it's is just my opinion - Brian
