: Paddled out at 6:30 AM on Saturday morning,,, Small surf sets got out easily in nice glassy water. Trolled a gold and black Rebel Fast track off the back of my boat, shot the pier just under the store, about 150 ft. from there, caught a 13" Calico Bass... Went into the kelp beds, saw something huge leap out of the water, either a Mako, or a sea dog... My imagination got the best of me, probably just a dog... Started fishing 6" Squid strips with a 1 oz egg weight. Ripped a 25" 5 lb lingcod... this bastard really fought, taking all kinds of line out, on my 7'vintage Kunnan flip and stick... 20 lb line... Caught several small rock fish, a female sheepshead (I think that was what it was), that also gave a sweet fight... All fish released, except ling tacos... kept getting bites, I decided to head in, as I was alone, my friend Mango got sea sick... The water was choppy, it was a tough paddle in. Finally got in near the impact zone. The surf was still small, but choppy, so it was hard to tell the sets... I decided to wisely tether all my equipment... Started to paddle into the shore a two foot wave hit the stern of my boat, knocking me off to the delight of some punk surfers. Lost one tackle box with about $15 worth of plastics!!! Oh well, it could have been worse... Paddling out this there this Sat again... let me know if you are interested...
