RE:I have figured the issue with scupper holes; fine when the kayak is empty(design flaw) but as you add weight then the waterline is lowererd thus water-retention(no offence Jas). Since I have 8 holes and am traveling light, I have no worry; but eventually I will plug the two forward hole in each well and sponge the wells.
