Aloha Todd,
I run a Humminbird 400tx off of my Scupper Pro(s), I hava a rechargable battery in a small box inside the hatch. I run this in fresh water as well as saltwater. I tried the Pirahnas and as easy as they are to use they didn't offer the features I wanted.
No laughing - I tried running my Furuno color and it works great the only thing is that it eats up the battery like crazy!
I run a small rechargable 12v. This is enough to run the fishfinder, Atlantis underwater cam, and my running lights for approx. 3 - 5 hours. I have run dual batteries but found that for the time i spend in the water it wasn't worth the extra weight.
