San Onofre Report - Sat. 08/16

This was my first trip to San Onofre Campground...And probably my last with a kayak. The beach was close to a mile walk from my camp site...all down a steep bluff. Trail #4 was the best trail, but a sturdy kayak cart is a must...Mine broke about 100yds from the bottom, which meant I had to carry everything all the way up.

I launched through some pretty large swells to fish the most sterile water I've ever fished. Paddling over featurless sand bottom, I caught nothing while throwing plastics. Water was warm, but the clarity was bad; Weather was hot, with fog during the middle of the day .

I'm sure the place has more fishing to offer, but I felt like I was in the Saharra Desert.
