Great diagram Ted! The drift sock/chute is a great tool for kayak fishermen. I can't imagine not taking mine out with me. I may not use it each time I go out, but I wouldn't leave home without it. I don't always use a bowline (diagram shows chute functioning with bowline) so I just clip (brass snap and nylon chord) my chute on to an existing eyelet. I have enough eyelets that I can clip it on several areas, thuuuuuuus offering me a few options for the position of my kayak in relation to the direction of the current/drift.
