Great White at Paradise Cove

Has anyone seen the commercial fishing vessel anchored about a half mile offshore? It's just north of Latigo, south of Paradise Cove?

I went fishing with a friend on Friday and saw the boat again, but this time there was a suspicious net/buoy line (looks like a bait receiver) about 200 yds. away from the boat.

I had heard rumors of Monterey Aquarium's plan to catch a live Great White and take it back for the aquarium...

As I was fishing, I saw a few private boats pull up to the net, look around, and then leave. A moment later I see a news helicopter hovering above the net.

I didn't want to freak my first-time-kayak-fishing friend out, so I stayed quiet.

I did meet JAS...(Nice to meet you, keep up the good work) and we talked about the net set up

When I got home, I saw the evening news report about a Great White that they had caught...I was right! The news showed footage of the shark swimming in the net.

PS.. Fished plastic swim baits around the kelp. Fishing started slowly, but it picked up with the incoming tide around 11am. Calicos turned on...My biggest was about 5+ pounds and it made up for the slow morning. I also caught several Halibut that were about 1/16th of an inch too short. And a couple small WSB.
