That's the first I've heard of that. I have an a 12-ft. inflatable with a trolling motor and launched off Palos Verdes a couple times. Once the Coast Guard actually came by and a crew member scanned my boat with his binoculars to make sure we had our registration numbers displayed. Then he waved and took off.
Also, it doesn't make sense that float tubers can be out there but inflatable boats can't......
