...was a gorgeous day!

Saw lots of "Dolphins", very cool, they were crashing bait all around my Kayak and another Yakker as I transitioned from a brief troll along the kelp and out to the point looking for the Big 'uns.

No joy, so I went to the "Honey Hole" and jigged up a quick limit of tasty bottom critters.

One 30" ling, a nice fat white fish and 8 reds. All on the iron.

My expression is a grimace, in case you are wondering...HEAVY!

Thanks for the tip Iceman, and for the picture, Eagle Eye!

Back on the sand by 10am.

Sadly a 16 year old boogy boarder was taken away by ambulance after being pulled from the water by lifeguards. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Very sad, while everyone was celebrating and fishing all around...

I made all but the Ling into fish tacos that evening for my family and my wife's family.

I marinated the fillets in oil and taco seasoning, then added lemon to the marinade just a few minutes before cooking.
I BBQ'd the fish on a very hot grill, quickly to get nice char-marks on each piece.
I then put a dollop of mixed sour cream lemon juice and cilantro as a base, then the meat, then cabbage, then salsa on soft warm corn tortillas.

My Father in law honestly ate more than a pound of the meat all by himself.

Hope you all had a happy and safe Fourth.

God Bless America!
