Okay, You can launch from baby's beach or Doheny. Baby's beach is free parking, Doheny is $1.00 (quarters) per hour. Baby's beach is at the back of the harbor, appx one mile to the mouth of the harbor. There is a bait receiver and bait is $5.00 for a kayak. Doheny's parking is across from the shipyard and it is about 1/8 mile to the mouth of the harbor. Silver krocks, black and silver megabaits (iron 1/2 ounce), swim baits (fish traps), rootbeer with orange belly, rainbow trout with red belly. You can make bait for trolling at the point by the red buoy outside of the kelp. That is also a really good spot to catch calico bass, sand bass, baricuda, mackral. For halibut, you want to be in front of Doheny and tight to the shore. There are halibut and wsb around the bait barge and that whole area. Hope this helps. Good luck. Launch early.
