I can't remember the name of them, but there is a huge population of gigantic seals in Cambria. I think they're called Elephant Seals (I may be wrong about the name).
Some of the yaks can get as long as boats. The ones for touring tend to be a bit longer. OCEANHUNTER and I have a Scupper Pro TW. That's like a combination between a touring kayak and a midrange or recreational-style yak. At just under 15ft, it can be a beast sometimes (though never a real problem)when transporting. I'd like to get a Scrambler XT (little shorter, little wider) for those days I don't plan on paddling far. Oh, don't forget about those days the surf is pumping. The Scupper will get you out faster, but don't ride a wave coming in to land it. Guarranty the largest pearl of your life. lol.
You gotta come in sideways with your paddle stuck in the wave side. Weird feeling and hard to do, but much better odds of not wiping it.
