: The thing about the Caper is that its cockpit is waaay larger than the Scupper Pros. I'm 6'4 and I fit just right in the Caper. The SPTW was making me eat my knees the whole time I paddled it. I've written a pretty lengthy review of the Caper at my site. Click the link "Yak Review" for the lowdown on the Caper. Also have a ton of pictures in the Liars Club there, too. No pictures of it with the new fish finder yet, though.

Kayaks come in many shapes and sizes. Some kayaks are longer some are shorter. Some cockpits are thinner, longer, etc; The Caper is a shorter kayak than what I am use to. The cockpit is shorter than the Scupper TW's, though wider. I'm 6'2" 195lb. The Scupper fits me like a glove though I still have some room to breathe.
In regards to checking out kayak models, be sure the cockpit matches your height, width, etc and that your kayak's dimensions match your application; I prefer a longer kayak (Scupper TW-14'9", Pro Explorer-12'.5") than that of the shorter length (11ft) of the Caper. Some people like the Drifter, Caper's big Brother. It's hard to say which one would better suited for you. Though I would think a Caper would also bennefit a beginner because I would assume that since it is a wider boat, it's also a more stable one than the Scupper TW. If you can, try a few models before you buy.
