Slow bite today. Worked the kelp with Fishtraps for a few hours only to snag a couple sandbass on the outside. Started using squid strips on reverse dropper set up and nailed 2 flatties. One 33" and one at 26". The 33" felt just like a ray, taking a strong horizontal run every time I gained some ground back. The shorter one was "flattie predictable" from the start. Thank God for frozen/defrosted squid.

I fished with a couple of guys new to the sport, John and Mike. Considering there was still some surf to contend with, these guys charged. Bite was dead though John managed to find a school of short white seabass and a nice ray. The sun was threatening to break through but never did. We all had a lot of short bites and a couple of spit hooks, but couldn't get much to the surface.
If you ever wondered if Malibu Kayaks Pro II Tandem is surfable....it is. Both of them, against my advice, deliberately rode a couple of nice 1-2 ft beach breaks to shore. Right up to the sand. Nice job!
