: i was wondering what kinds of irons you would use for kelp fishing(around 2-3 miles out......what oz would you recommend for bass and other fish that hang in kelp close in........please reply

Norther cal has never been good for me and irons, have tried a few with out much luck. Mega Baits are the newest great iron, that work in many situations, while an old stand by for me is a Crippled Herring by Lure Jensen 1oz up to 4 oz.Chrome. I have used Ironman lures at the Channel Islands, all white, scrammbled egg, mackerel pattern, 3oz to 6 oz. Tady 45's are good surface stuff. Blue and white, green and yellow, brown yellow and white, are good cuda and YT colors to name a few. Alway carry a few chrome in various sizes. Mix it up, sizes weights and colors and fish them yoyo, slow , fast,etc... Lots more good Iron mfgs I didnt mention that have good products. TL Rhino
