Hey Mike, you need to try several models from several makers. In general I've seen fishing kayaks come in the long slim(scupper pro) design and the wider shorter(Fish n Dive) style. Each has its merits. I went with a FnD for the extra stability because I take my daughter out with me. I really like my kayak and don't feel like I'm going too slow. There are some that look like they combine the 2 extreams. As for tanks, there are some good pictures and directions on the kayak fishing web sights. Bait fish don't like corners to much so I stayed away from the square tanks and used a round pail my kids beach toys came in. I have a 12 volt 7 amp hour battery in a water proof pelican case driving an Attwood 500 gph pump. I'm no electrician but it work great and keeps bait, chovies or macks, lively. I'm still a novice but one piece of advice I'd give you is don't jump in all at once. Find the boats that right for you them equip it step by step as you learn what you need and want and where on the kayak you want it. Space is at a premium on a kayak. Email me if you have any questions. Mike
