La Jolla Kayak Fishing and Kayak4Fish.com Upcoming events and Trips

Friday April 25th Kayak fishing seminar: Jim Sammons of La Jolla Kayak Fishing will be the guest speaker at the pretournament seminar at SDSC

Sunday April 27th Day at the Docks: Held at the sport boat landings in Point Loma. This is a free outdoor event for the local sport fishing industry. You can tour some of the fishing boats, take a boat ride, or let you kids catch a fish from the docks. They have lots of good food and exhibitors for your whole family to enjoy. For the second year La Jolla Kayak Fishing will have its own booth at the show. We will have our rigged fishing kayaks on hand for you to take a look at, we will also have our kayak fishing accessories, including our custom bait tanks available for purchase. If you need a particular item please call us in advance and we will make sure we have it for you.

Sunday May 4th Group Kayak Fishing Lesson: La Jolla Kayak Fishing will be giving a group kayak-fishing lesson on the bay next to Allen’s Kayaks. The three-hour class will cover the basics of paddling, self-rescue, fishing kayak setup, kayak safety, and fishing techniques. This class will be good for entry level to the person that wants to improve their paddling technique. Kayaks will be provided for those that need them. I have Scupper Pro’s, Drifter, Caper, Scrambler XT and a Cabo for people to try. Please give me a call to reserve a kayak.
You can register for the class at Allen’s Kayaks or through me. The cost of the class is $75 per person. Please register in advance so we know how many kayaks to have on the water. If you have a kayak already Feel free to bring it, we can give you pointers on setting it up to make it a true fishing machine.
If in the market for a kayak, anyone that purchases a kayak from Allen between now and then will get the class at a reduced rate.

May 8th –11th and May 12th – 15th Baja Kayak Fishing adventure to Hotel Punta Colorada on the East Cape: If you want the opportunity to catch Dorado, Rooster fish, and Tuna from your kayak now is your chance. Take a look at our trips page for more information about these great trips. We still have openings for these trips and would love to have you join us.

Sunday May 25th Group Surf Clinic: More gear is lost or damaged, and more people run into trouble in the surf zone than any other area in kayaking. For that reason we are offering a two hour surf survival class.
We will teach you the proper techniques needed to launch and land a loaded kayak through the surf. This is not a surfing class we are not interested is catching waves, what we want is to get our expensive fishing gear to and from the fishing grounds intact. That is what we teach you.
Fee is $45 per person; please register in advance to reserve a spot or a kayak.
Kayaks can be provided for those that need them, bring your own if you prefer. Wetsuits recommended.

June 27th – 29th San Clemente Island Mother ship trip: This trip gives you the chance to catch tuna from the boat on the ride over, and Yellowtail, White Seabass, and trophy Calico bass from the kayaks once at the island. Take a look at our trips page for more information.

As soon as I iron out the final details I will add the information and entry forms onto our web site. Mark the date on your calendar you don’t want to miss it.
