: Went out to Leo on sunday met up with Richard and met Tom out there, thanks guys for your help.So at the end of the day I hooked into something I thought was big, Possibly a large kelp stringer. I use my fresh water rod (a 6' fenwick lunkerstick rated for 10 -20 #test and 3/8-1oz lures) and a shimano conventional reel like a corado(?). Anyway with this "thing" on my line the rod was bent like a horse shoe and the reel, I could not tighten the drag enough to stop line from peeling off.I just went out shopping for a rod with a bit more backbone and reel that would "stop". Made some purchases (kept reciepts of course). what I got was: For the rod, and it seemed stiffer at the shop, was a 7' Fenwick Saltstick rated pretty much the same, 1/4-3/4 oz lure and 10-20 #test. and a used Diawa Millionair cv-x.I'm thinking I may have duplicated what I have as opposed to getting More. What do you folks think? also, my problem with reels are I want left handed reels. The reels that are available in lefty all have the same drag, a grease drag(diawa, calcatta)and penn do not make a lefty.Shed some light on me....Rob R

RE: I think you are going to hear alot of talk about Shimano TLD15 reel,Calcutta 400 reel.
For the rod; a Seeker inshore 10-25 was discussed and you will need the line in the higher range of the reel/rod.
