: Arrived at La Jolla Shores around 4:30 AM. The rain the day before had washed away so much sand that there was a gap between the cement and sand so big that there was no vehicle access . 4 of us unloaded our gear and dragged the kayaks down to the water. Clear skies, big ol' moon, a stiff breeze and fairly small surf at the launch. Bait in the dark is usually easiest under the lights of Scripp's Pier, but not this morning. Maybe it was the full moon. We did end up finding some around first light in deeper (120 ft) water. Once over at the kelp The Spanish Macs were more than willing to join the Green ones in the bait tank. The water had been slowly cleaning up, but was back to green and 5 foot visibility. By now I had counted 12 kayaks, 3 PBers and the 2 Sport boats making there way over.Saw a dozen bigger YT throwing alot of water, and Sardines jumping , heading right through us. I threw a 6 Heard another was lost and 4 others were landed. One of those was the 4th in the last month caught by Brian,LGG who opted to release it, since it was only a lil 25#er (ha). The picture is the one
